ABOUT

BBSRC-funded MIBTP in Life Sciences at the University of Warwick, working on inhibiting MYST histone acetyltransferases to trigger stress immunity in Arabidopsis, Brassica and Tomato, focusing on drought tolerance and leaf pathogen immunity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (DC3000), under the supervision of Prof. Vardis Ntoukakis. 2025 Brewster Scholar (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/lifesci/benefactors/jimbrewster/sheetal/) and MIBTP-trained researcher with hands-on expertise spanning simulation modelling, RNA-seq analysis, protein-protein interaction assays, thermal imaging and chlorophyll fluorescence.

Before this, I completed an M.Sc. in Plant Breeding and Genetics, specialising in genetics, plant breeding, molecular biology and bioinformatics. I've run field trials for biotic and abiotic stress, including YMV (Yellow Mosaic Virus) screening and scoring in legumes, and collected yield trait data. I carried out BSA-based NGS QTL-seq analysis and mapped genes/QTLs using Linux- and R-based tools, generating marker data through both wet-lab and dry-lab protocols.

My ambition is to expand my expertise in crop genetics, genomics and molecular biology to help develop climate-resilient, high-yielding crop varieties bridging fundamental plant science with the practical breeding challenges facing agriculture.
