ABOUT
Professor Andronis' research draws on social sciences and health care research methods to answer pressing economic questions about health and health care. Within this context, much of his research has focused on identifying and determining ‘value’ in health care, in order to inform policy making.
Professor Andronis has published his research in front-line health economics and medical journals, including Social Science and Medicine, Medical Decision Making, Value in Health, PharmacoEconomics, European Journal of Health Economics, JAMA Oncology, The Lancet, British Medical Journal. He has authored reports and publications for institutes and bodies of international significance and has led Evidence Review Groups commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to advise on the cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals considered for adoption and reimbursement in the NHS. He presents his work in major health economics conferences, including meetings of the International Health Economics Association, European Health Economics Association and Health Economists’ Study Group.
In 2022, Professor Andronis was successful in securing a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Advanced Fellowship, an award that aims “to support the transition of outstanding researchers to international research leaders”. As part of this award, Professor Andronis leads a programme of work that brings together internationally eminent researchers from Universities in the UK and abroad to explore how to estimate the (monetary) value of children and young people’s time and how best to reflect this in health economic evaluations.
